Description

watercolours, ink

Commission for a sweet couple’s Anniversary. The reflection shows their wedding location while the top part shows their vow renewal 10 years later in Hawaii. It was a fun painting and challenging in many ways!

Critiques are always welcomed!

First of all, I just want to precise that it's the first time I write a critique based on one of your arts, so I'm sorry if I don't get the meaning of your painting well...

I've been a fan of many of your paintings because of it's originality but especially for the sarcastic side hidden in some of them (don't now if you're doing it on purpose or not, but I mostly look at it this way). I don't think that I missed one of your deviations since I watched you. And I'm not regretting any of the time I spent re-viewing the ones I fav'd. Now I'm quite sure I can recognize your style between a hundred piece of art.

Now, let's get the ball rolling !

I loved the effort you did on the reflection, it's the first thing that I noticed ! I'm deeply impressed by the paint-fall detail in it, at first I thaught you wanted to make it cloudy, but it's more artistic this way ! The concept of a modern couple getting married in the middle of a modern-designed city is quite intriguing, not sure why, maybe because it's too realistic ?... I'm even not sure if I'm saying it in a good way or a bad way lol. But I think that a little breaking detail (the two of them carrying a red rose in the middle, for an example) would've been more creative.

Let's switch into the top side now: to be honest, I didn't like it. I mean, I find too empty. I tried to seek hidden meanings or messages, but nothing. The border flowers' work is fine, but the colors are depressing compared to the context (you talked about Hawaii, but I see anything Hawaiish...). I think that it would've been acceptable if the reflection was a bit empty too, or if the top side was more decorated (I would really like it if you've added some tropical birds to make it more Hawaii-like honey moon or something).

Well, I think it's all what I had to say, I hope that you'll take my critique in consideration, and that it'll help you in your future work. You have lots of potentiel (and that the least I can say), I know that you can do much much better <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>

Faithfully,
